The Illustrates from the Japanese's children book is always so beautiful and charming as a usual. I found this book at the Sukhumwit soi 31st, 2nd hand shop, only at 5 bath. The book is worth more than 5 bath for sure, the character is really unique, not really colorful, which i assume that is JP style with pastel color. Well anyway great to have it from the place that I aways observed for my brain.

What a nice's free pocket book

Camper's shoe, is not only my favorite shoe but Camper's corporate design also my favorite as well. It doesnt matter poster, postcard, shoe box, shoroom or website or whatever that i havent said about. What I found from the Camber's shop in the City Loop Melbourne, Victoria, Austrlia was a pocket book calls THE WALKING SOCIETY (issue 7 march 2004, BARCELONA). I know it's quite a long time and really old issue but until now, it's still break through my feeling of the whole well creative though from this pocket book. What I found wasnt only about well shot shooting of picture, typo design, grid column or illustrate or conten which are really come from the same car and go to the same place. It's just really impress about it all the time i see.

Wonderful lovely these animals design from the biscuit ZOO LAND from my nephew. Every character look really lifely and kind, really suit for a children. I always like to eat this sort of snack not even because of yummy but also trendy all the time.

Vowel is might not really important in some language interm of design but as Thai people and Thai design's students know that Vowel is sort of the important part of typography design also graphic design. As you can see on the picture, look it carefully then you will see a shame of Thai type designer or graphic designer who designed this piece. The vowel on the top is too high so if it not about the national's project, i will say nothing but okokok let it be as everything in Thailand always mai_pen_rai

What a lovely logo!

I found this logo from the btah-room tool's container. It's very nice and clean logo but is that anything realted to the product? I still figure it out but really can't image. Mmmm..."Best Quality" is the brand-name, so may be the rabbit is best quality of _uck on another word "making love". Yes rabbit like to do that so so so so so so what! Still love and wondering about this logo. One thing that really effect to my thought is i can remember this logo easily. Also, i really do remember what is this product, brand name..........oh what a theory....wonderful.

The answer is the place that i can share my feeling of my observation about the place that I living on interm of design things around me. It's kinda thing that I doin it for fun and at the same time during my break for my 2nd animation (which already one year with script hurhurhur....) However I hope this blog will be useful for somebody who can get in or anybody who agree or even disagree but love design as I do.

Designer is designer or nowadays is just a job.

thaipographica lab + monkey buro

When the first time i set up the group call thiapographica in 2001, that time the numebr of graphic design firm in Thailand wasnt many as it is. Today, since i came back from Australia and Japan, thaipographica still being the same as it was, a few clients running the job by a few employes and I still doing every part of the company but what is really changed is "the experiences". Since i came back earlier this year, i set up another group calls monkeys buro which i keep it for some untitle project or in the other word = non-profit. Monkey Buro isnt go well enough because I hv to run the thaipographica lab with the client, complete the task! deal the task! organise the plan for designer! even doing bank's thing! & also about my sideline job which are columnist, lecturer also cause me a time a lot. I kinda think that how can I do everything? what fi i cant do? do i gonna feel sad about myself??? everytime i end up with go out and run in my village and then the problem back to the place that it came from. What should i do? The simply answer is do it again! Start it again! To be honest, this year (2005) isnt a bad year at all in fact it such a great year! my Thaipographica Lab goin well, Monkey Buro just need more time and Teaching & Columnist 's Job are great! What do I really want anyway. However, these all things i made it so why shoulndt I be happy about it why why why?

Ok Ok, that's enough! Get back to work!

The end of October will be the end of semaster in both university that I hv been teaching from June 2005. You can read some of the thing on the other blog.............www.something2live4.blogspot.com.........by the way Just came back from Singapore, it was great experience overthere but what i found is the DesignEdge is comming this November!!!!!!Time to be there again. (what are these sentenses all about ????)

I hv done one and a half page's script for my new film and will it take more 3.5 pages then the script is will be done. Look forward to it because this new one i will make with one of JP digital artist, ohoh how nice

Back to Bangkok

Finally, i came back to BKK on 8th Wed around 10.00 at night. It was a great trip to Japan this time. I have seen so many things I never seen in my life and those things made me understand that our city is really small. I went to EXPO and off course it was amazing and amazing, I really enjoyed the motion graphic from Holland, love it so so much. I came back to BKK a little late because of some good story happend to me. My Thaipography Film is one of the finalsit this year. Japan Digital Animation Festival 2005, 152 films from 90 countries but my film is one of the selected for the final this year. Great great great, I got some new friends, 2 from japan and 1 from Spain. They are all not animator but they just like to do source of animation+motion graphic. It was great memory from the first dinner reception's party-award ceremony. From 3-5 June 2005, i was in the best time, moment, period of my life this passed several years. To be continue......

Today is the first day that i will start writing about the script of Typo44 or Thaipo44. It took a long time to start writing about this script because i was so super super busy about my works (my own office's work) because nowaday we move on the hv the place that we call "office". Our office is located in the kinda business are whichisnt suite to our character as much as it should be. Who's care about that anyway yeah?. I think the office thing took my time away alot and made me away from this blog as well.

Thaipographica Lab is on the way of hope and faithfull. I decided to devine the company in 2 section. First is business to business and the second is business to non business. I have no idea about the success of my company will happen real soon or not but what i do know is I've steped to another level of my life and i always keep reminding myself that is this what i love?

The answer is yes................................"knock knock! stop typing and start working on the script now!!!!!

I had lost in the space of nowhere for a while. What did i do? When the project Thaipo44 will start? Actually i was dealing manything that i have dream about, i have a passion to do and of course if i just stands still, i cant it. So, i will tell everything what i had dealed and what it will be. First of all, I decided to stop using Thaipographica to be my office name because Thaipographica belongs to me and my friend but when the time's come something changed, someone changed. Anyway, I decided that the name Thaipographica will use only for the project rather than to be the design's group name.

Since earlier this year I had a call from 2 universities, one is my Undergrat Uni and another is Internation University. Actually i walked in to them and poped my resume in the box to the head of design department then they called me and asked me if I'd want to do teaching. Oh, yes why not. I will do kinda part time lecturer, 3 days for the uni that i gratuated from and another 1 day for the International Uni. By the way I do teaching 2 days now at only my Undergratuate university in Typograhy Subject and another is Motion Graphic. But in the next semaster(which is the first semaster of every uni in Thailand) around June, I will start both uni, Manily, i will teach Motion Graphic and Typograhy and Coporate Identity Design.

I sent my resume to kinda music magazine and also another magazine (kinda culture mag, art mag, fashion mag), the reason i sent to them because i want to see the reaction of thai culture or
i just wanna know that what is the trend up to which point? So, i got a called from some of them one is asked me to write the column about Motion Graphic for him every issue and he 'd love to promote my Thaipography with his magazine, kinda gift for the readers. And another magazine interviewed me yesterday. I felt really wierd to answer someone i never known before but yes!!!!!!!!!

I also went down to Samui Island, just pick up my land from my grand mum+dad, then I decided that I gonna make a palm tree farm. The land will re treat the grown on April because the land need time to re duce the food underground up or the sureface then when I start pop up the palm tree, the weather will be in rainny season.

I came back to Bangkok two weeks ago because my best mate from Sanfransisco will be back to Bangkok. We both havent seen each other for 3 or 4 years since 2001. We caugh up quite fast rather than we expected because of he has a job project and he needs someone to work with but at the end of that job couldnt be made because client said our cost is really high, but we dont really mind actually. We caugh up again for several job later some job we still working on it then someday last week we decided to have our own design group because 3 of our clients asked me that what is your company, or do i hv a name card or something that related to the business feeling. So, my group names MonkeyBURO................... why why why and why, the explaination will be in this blog soon.

ThaiPo 44

I just got the project name 1 minute ago. I've been thinking about the new motion&animation project for around 2 weeks already. Actually, these day i also been think about finding the direction of my company quite seriously. What is ThaipographicA can do? I dont exactly know but what i know is ThaipographicA will do the graphic in with all moving or without moving for everything in this universe. Ok, let's talk about ThaiPo44, this is a project that 've been along in my mind but at fisrt I just known that I 'd want to do the project that can complete the Thai alphabet in term of image and style plus the good story for Thai people and everyone to see not to understand. No target is will be great isnt it? How about if no lecturer like Kate, Matt, John, Jeremy and David what will happen to me. What they will say after I hand them my story...................challenging isnt it? This project is sort of my A:Side work which is no funding or no money to support just only for main tain my passion for design because i still believe that good design is can be on the moon in someday. I'm started to do the research again, statred watch the animation, motion graphic, short film again. By the way, i dont hv the main objective of my project yet but so far i know what i will do with it and might be the first project(project for non profit) of this year from ThaipographicA.

Actually this topic isnt like this one. I changed it because I dont feel the point to write about new year in my blog, which is I aim to any of my perception about design, idea and many things that involed with art. So, then i dont think the new year topic will good enough to fit in this blog (even someone might disagree). It's already 2 weeks that i've been in my mother land and also it's been 2weeks that i'm sicked with the decease calls "Nationalismophobia" why? yes why? I should be happy that i can meet my family and friends, yes i do and it might be only reason that i came back home. Why i mentioned about "Nationalismophobia" because every I go or everything i heard is all about please please love your country or let love our land, our food, our language and our culture and so many our thing that waiting to be love. It doesnt mean "Nationalismophobia" isnt good but it's just not appropriate for this land, the land of cream cake or toping not the cake. But it's really hard for me to say I dont like this "Nationalismophobia" because when i was work as a freelance designer 3 year ago I used "Thaipographica" to be my name, so this blog also names Thaipography and also the name that i use to post the topic is Thaipotype. I love my country, of coure but as much as i dont like my country because as much as country's changed the people i've known never changed. What do I mean, i mean friend of my still ask me what the program that i use when i was doin my hybrid animation or am I using Apple or PC or even worst can i find the some of world graphic association for his thesis in Master degree (even he said he loves graphic, print and wants to work in the best design company in BKK). What can i reply to these people? Yes if in my dream i'd say "you should quit or drop from that course and quit from the graphic design company that he set it up or do something else and try to love p.e. class more than graphic design or should i reply that i use word processing or power point programs to make my hybrid animation???". Like i mentioned that as much as my country's developed, people in design world in BKK will getting stay still more than before because they do nothing accept keep watching. Some people might says that Thia design in any fields getting better than before, i 'd say yes it's but where is the inovation or where is the content or where is the unique style or where is ur soul. Yes some animation company in here can make the animation but i doubt that when i first saw it, is that POKEMON? may be not but the color and shape is like yellow circle???????? what da?????? but it's POKEMON. Ok, what should i say? How about if i say it out lound that hey!!!! "dont do that??????? " yes, of course i'll be more than a black sheep in the elephant training school!!! ohly sid!! what should i say if i saw POKEMON but it's POKEMON!!! I should say it's very wonderful character design and very clever to use that yellow because it's very effective to the children.............(this is the collect answer when u need a job in Thailand (even some people might contribute them self to be very fuckin cool indiependent art group such, music lable, publisher, design firm or even radio station. Actually they are the same and fake than the mass in some how). Then they might think yes, Thailand is the best , is great or we can do better than oversea countries and we so pround. Please give me some space to trow up my dinner because I've got the "Nationalismophobia" in my stomach.....................I dont want to watch the music video of my anthem every 6.00pm in every tv channel

I just came home from the holiday with my family. It was great to have some day that i dont hv to worry about my future because since i came home on 20 -21 of december 2004 ( 5 days ago), i got the question that kinda planing question from my Dad, Mum and sisters even 2 of my brother in law. I told them that i dont know, i really dont know but they just smiled and said nothing. I just want to wait for the result of my film that i sent away to many place, 1 for japan, 2 in Melbourne, 1 to London, 1 to Chez, 1 to France and i will send to IDNpro and also ONEdotZERO by Jan2005, inclding to the music label in Bangkok and also kinda art&design magazine and may be chanel V (which i really dont feel like). I went to my previous company that i used to work with them, they told me that, it kinda hard for me if i want to do this kind of style in Bangkok because it should be around 2 years after this, then i can get a lot of income. I sort of trust them because this is the best graphic design in south-east asia and they are the people who setting up the Thailand Graphic Dsign Asociation and it willl be one of the association in ICOGRADA ?(i'm not sure about my spelling. They said as long as i send my work to any company in Bangkok , i will get a job???? In my mind just want to refuse but on the other way I remember my mum's word, "if i want to be an artist i need to understand that artist also need the money"

I still have no plan by now, just setting my life down and thinking about what i will do(just kinda rough plan), but for sure that if my be selected for Melbourne Internation Film Festival, i will be back there or even any others festival i will be there. Is it hard to wear a bear suit? or even panda suit but i 'd prefer panda suit.

I still remember the first year that i came to Melbourne. It was on 8 of July 2002 but today 19 of December 2004, so many things had happend into my life. All i can say from my heart is Thank you Australia& Melbourne. I have no idea about Melbourne before I came here, all i know is kinda historical city and the weather is a bit strange and unpredictable. In past 3 years, Melbourne tought me to be myself, to be independent and to be whatever that I want to be and respect myself and lastly try as hard as I can. These are the things that i cant learn from school or even in my home country. I tried to be like that in my home town before i came but it wasnt easy to do in the place that 3% or 5% are the same kind of me. I came here with the same reason as the other international students and everyone got the different experiences back home depends on how much u need before you go back or what do u need from here. Life in here sort of hard at first 6 months, i was finding who am i and what i want also what should i do. However it was great memory that most of the time i was alone without so much meeting with friend. Like everyone knows that time passing by really fast and never return, I'm glad that i didnt waste so much time in here, i had worked what i wanted to work, i have known the people who i want to know, i hv a great friends, really great friends, espectially from AIM, RMIT.......they are such a greatful people and i have love Melbourne. I will not regreat any single day that i spent in here because everyday was full of my intentions that i did every single day of my life here.

The future of Thaipography or Thaipographica

What will happen with this space (room) after I finished the THaipography project. Actually, I'd like to turn to the name that i have been using for my own company (which i assume that i have one but it just my independent design group that mainly I'm the person who've done the jobs from Bangkok and Melbourne sofar). ThaiPographica is the name that i'm talking about. It'snt much different from my project name but to be honest before i came to the course I had the idea to do some motion graphic about Thai font for along time since i graduated my B.A. graphic design but.......anyway blah blah blah. So, let's talk about the future before I fogot everything. My aim is I try to make one film (kinda film) onece a year in my spare time and of course I have to get money from my normal work otherwise how can i do it. What I'm goin to do with my "THAIPOGRAPHICA", i want to non_commercial work, to be honest, i will do it. I know it's sound crazy or nut but I will try to do no matter what it will turn my "THAIPOGRAPHY" to be so poor anyway. Thailand or my mother land is always good place to live but of course it'snt free for u to tell the idea or make something that reverse my culture and please listen to what adults say whatever it take. That is the main reason that i can say i hate my culture. In Melbourne is different story , why? because I can be myself 100%, i can say I dont want to do this job and I dont think you are not good client. I did say and could be honest reather than I have to be a bit fake for the people in Bangkok. I have been working as a freelance designer in Melbourne since late 2002. It's amazing kinda life, everything I think or do is always great and on the right track. I ahve people who understand what i do and why I do. I dont ahve to be like , oh yes your Idea is great or I think this one is better than the other one blahblahblah. Moreover, i also can write what I thought even someone came to me and said my article is crab but most of people in here love it and voted to be the 3rd article that people been reading since the newspaper was born. I'm happy with myself more when I live here but of course I do miss my family, friends and something that i used to. However, it might be time to force Thai people to open their eyes and understand the world out side. Time to say, hey watch out! look at yourself! and dont think you better than anyone. I love my hometown as much as i want to get away from them. Thipographica might be a small indepedent designer group , who has a bright future as the big firm but we are what we are and try to teach the world honestly to my culture.

The End of Thaipography (from school)

I been waiting to write this blog for almost a week because i just want to see the reaction on the screening day which had happend last Thursday (25th November 2004). It was awesome and one of the best days of my life and I will remember in my mind until i cant remember anyting or until my brain's died. The show started with David of course, he talked talked and talked, kinda introduce AIM and our crews and of course he couldnt read my surname perfectly but that was kinda cute because made the atmosphere more calm a little bit.(Very charm MR. Atkinson). The moment of truth came along by Ben came up on the stage and got the first award of the night (that was i expected (Ben or Justine)) and followed by Justin for the sound's award. The next one was me Award of Excellence for Best Use of Digital Design & Motion. wow wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow. I felt so great and nervious and really want to know what is in the bag. I came up on the stage but i couldnt say anyword rather than "THANK YOU", i felt so blur and shaking.....hahah. So, Lilly got the next one followed Jamie and Astri and the final of course Justin again. He deserved it. Everyone deserved the award, they were worked really really hard. They are great animator, i can say that. But i dont think i'm, i still believe that i'm such a small designer form the south east asia who has nothing but wants to reach high as much as i can. My first step was great, thanks for everyone who involved and my mind which was worked really hard in term of thinking. However we came back to our school and got drunk until 3.30 am and i got new friends and some people came along and told me that they like my work, i felt so great again but couldnt really get it because i got drunk. Couple days later i came to school to dub my film into tape. Mat told me that i should send my film to Melbourne film festival because if i have seleted, my film will show on the screen on July 2005. It is a good opportunity isnt it. I will send it to them. I relised one thing, Life is fun isnt it?

Beside my monitor, there is a box of cheese names The Laughing Cow (La vache qui rit) been sleeping there since I started my project until now. That cow still laughing with the red face but without sound, until now i still wonder the sex of that cow, is it male or female? and why that cow wearing the earing? I tried to ask myself before about this cow's question but it's really hard to find the answer that seems possible. Conclusion

What's the conclusion when we've done our piece of work ? Good dinner with some friends, give somebody a call (such my parents), go out and have a drink, find a good music and chill out at home or etc. One thing that i really know that i have to do is return to my clients and deal with the hard sell look and turn to be a good design which I think that style will be suit for the product. Anyway, what i mean from this conversation is I have no conclusion. This major project, to me is one of the piece of works, but the difference is kind of personal work that i love to do and no commercial invole in it. So let say, I like this piece the most no matter what everyone will say. Get back to conclusion again, at fisrt the feeling is like i'm standing on the shoulder of giant but at the end that giant says "hey! Shy" "it's time to go"

Editing can change the film from the sadness to the happiness or from the angle line to the curve line or whatever that can be opposite to the others. I've been editing my film(motion graphic) (my animation) (i still dont know what should i call it) for several day as same as working on the details that I feel un-satisfy myself and of course sound. It's like a best moment of the production time because at least you have everything about your project on your table, depends on how will you combine it in one.

However as long as it the best moment, also it shoud aware that is might be the worst moment as well but this is the way of producing something isnt it. It's like when you cooking, true that everyone can be a chef or can cook but not every can be the good chef or good cooker!!!! It depends on how much you put the ingredient in it, how long you stir it on the stove (in case you have the same qaulity of ingredient). Cant be the same cant be the same evenevenyou have supersuper great formula from the iron chef. Anyway, experience is a good word to put instead of my mind at the moment but if someone doesnt have an experience about editing ?@#$%^& ........is that the film can be the picture hand drawn in a public toilet or a renaissance painting in the Natinal gallery. By the way if i prefer both what should i do ?

In between style and content

Talking about style and content, it'd be an issue that can talk forever isn't it ? Personally, I've heard a lot about people rather to prefer the content than style but if some people rather to prefer the style than content, will it be wrong or not!!! I know, i know that content is very very very important. It might be the most important or people just rely on it or because people have been told that is very essential part of everything (what you wanna tell to the audience). It might be such a fooly I am to write about this issue but i'm not against or refuse or whatever but what i 'd like to make it might be a rubbish but i think it's true that we are different in term of everthing. Environment, education, perception, background, family, habbit, etc.....
Does the great artists in the world care about the content ? or they just draw from what they impress to. Therefore, if you deal with the audiences or mass (or whoever that will give money to you or offer you a job or anything that make an benefit to you or you need something from them) my opinion will say yes of course i should care about my content. How about if I dont care about those benefit and play like a fool by do what i want, yes of course it can be but as long as you exist in the world of follow through, the world of judge (Judy), the world of influence and the world of the other people world then you have to smile for nothing.

Anyway I always feel nothing when people talking about content. I dont know why but i so believe that content and style so equal like style make an impress but content make me understand but everything can be instead of another then why if sometime STYLE wants to say "Hey i do have a heart also"

You've come along way baby. Exactly one month to go! Holy, wow what a wonderful moment of truth. My project is on the highway of nowhere. Tryin to finish it soon. Everything forming as a big picture which icant wait to see it but of course I might feel lack of interest about it. Like everyone said "nothing forever" so why not if i wil feel like that.

Lately I also working on the screening things. Poster, poscard and DvD's cove is all done, just waiting for send to the publisher. It should be by the middle of next week and it shouldnt be later than the middle of next week. Anyway it should be ok, should be ok.

One month to go.........where am I up to on my project ? It getting there. I'm working on the change according to the comment that i got last week. It'snt easy to clean up something that you like but if it make more sense why not!!!! What will i do for today ? HmHMHM start the last section and try to combine it in After Effect. Will see......

How can I avoid the laziness. I dont know but i should deep breath again and force myself to do it. No one can tell me what to do or how to do. So, do it then, shut up and start..................

Yesterday night i didnt think anything about my project because my brain was blown out to the moon. I've been thinking about the conversation from yesterday between Jeremy (my lecturer), Kate (my lecturer) and I about my "thaipography project" since 8.17 in the morning til now then i think i should write something about it. What should i start? hur hur!! last week and last monday+tuesday+yesterday, i had put so much energy to my project in term of timing, trnsition and definitely music (sound track&sound effect). I feel satisfying in one point after i saw my motion stuff can go along with the music. From the discussion, some points that i have to fix it up (the point that i agree with), i wont mind to change it if it make more sense into my project. Like Matt (my lecturer) told me before, if you want the audience to understand sometime you have to tell them directly rather than let them understand by themselve. Around one month to go through this project! What is the feeling will be like after me & my friends done this???? or what the feeling like if evrything not goin on plan. So, i should go back to my work shouldnt I? yes yes yes, after I review it one more time.

It's all about "Transition"

To be honest, since i've been working on the motion graphic project for a couple of month, i've just focused on the transition for around a week or two. It's a bit complicated n absolutely killing me. Do i like transition emmmm, i do like it because it can make my project get along together between each scene. That might be the good reason why i like transition. I really wish that i could done the whole imgae (i mean visual) by the middle of October, ireally cant wait to working on sound with my sound designer. Actually he had done one for me but i feel , it 's pretty much killing my film. Oh dear!!!!!!!! this is not a love story even the character do love each others.

Is it true that a character can be perfect, more than human ? how about if un perfect human tries to make a character, is that character'd be perfect ? ......who's care anyway..........just make it and enjoy it.

How's my pj goin ? I feel love and enjoy my pj as much as i want to stay away from it. Sometime, it reminds me to when i was working for my own company after i had worked for 3 year for several design firms. It seems like you are so independent and the world is in your underware but in fact you cant ware the same underware everyday. What i mean is , i dont know but I have to reponse what i thought, that's it back to work and en(d)joy.

Of all the millions of words you read, “but” is one of the most powerful. These three letters can turn the greatest of expectations into instant depression, or lift you out of your blue mood in a second. In the world of creativity, the simple phrase “what if?’ is almost as potent. Most of the greatest, most earth-shattering design ideas have started with the thought “what if?”

While most people were concentrating on the products advertised in commercials, a few were watching the typography involved and wondering: “what if all this could be made to move in differently designed sequences?” Thus was born the art of motion graphics.

It all started as an expression of images such as the title sequences of films, and within next to no time had morphed into a phenomenal growth industry. Today’s motion graphics already go beyond the scope of graphics to include elements such as on-the-spot photographic images.

In 2000, a new design and live action production company called Motion Theory was set up in Los Angeles. It was co-founded by Matt Cullen and Javier Jiminez, with a team consisting of two dozen experts from a variety of backgrounds. Creative directors Cullen and Grandy Hall and art director Kaan Atilla are together known as a “directing collective”. But why the word “theory” in the firm’s title? Does it actually have theory?

“If our theory is anything, it is that our visuals should be motivated by ideas, not technique, and created by the collaborative efforted by ideas, not technique, and created by the collaborative efforts of talented people from many fields, “says Cullen. “Motion graphic is a single aspect of the process. We use our ideas to focus on designing narratives that use 2D/3D animation, live action and other techniques.”

But the theory comprises much more than that: besides focusing on designing narratives, they are trying to expand the vocabulary of contemporary image-making, because “our work, like the work of our peers, is about creating new languages, and new forms. We try to remain aware of our contempories, and try to respect what they have done. Since every idea is different, it demands a different execution, and we get the most creative satisfaction when we find a new way of saying something.”

As we’ve said, motion graphics began life as simple animation in the title sequences of films, but today it has become much more complicated, richer and more diverse. Motion graphics are no longer seen as just a technique. It’s not a case any longer of simply putting graphics into motion – they have to say something, or portray an idea or emotion in a way that conventional film-making cannot.

So what was the turning point that led to this sea change? “Motion graphics grew out of moving type and simple animation,” explains Cullen. “Over the years, people who worked in motion graphics experimented in more mediums – different types of animation, illustration, film making, etc. This was the turning point. In fact, as the work has evolved and expanded, the term ‘motion graphics’ has been left behind in its ability to reflect the diversity of work that many innovative designers, animators and film-makers have been doing in recent years.”

The company’s Nike Presto ad was probably Motion Theory’s personal turning point. Using an initial idea from WK Tokyo to take post –graffiti art off the walls and bring it to life throughout the city, the team invited three stunning graffiti artists – Skwerm (aka David Ellie), Sasuke and Frek – to create some animated graffiti for them. The resultant ad, well – crafted and impeccably presented, is now indelibly associated with Motion Theory.

And the good stuff keeps on coming. The firm’s latest, for R.E.M., brought Motion Theory together with Micheal Stripe in order to create a “photographic graphic”. “The idea behind R.E.M. was to make the invisible aspects of life – emotions, connections between people, and deeper truths about life – visible to the naked eye,” says Cullen.

“We used ideas that took their cues from nature – flowing constellations, bioluminescent creatures, and light that seems to come to make.” You can se what he’s talking about by viewing the CD-Rom that comes with this issue and includes the full version of R.E.M.’s Animal as well as four more of Motion Theory’s best motion graphic works. And there is a lot more to come!

Cullen says: “We will continue to work on projects we are passionate about with this team of people that we have built, and grown into a true collective. Our feelings on design reinforce active collaborations with clients, because we strive to make sure that the initial ideas are in place before we decide how to create a project. It helps keep us flexible and, hopefully, creates situations where we have a chance to produce projects of dept and meaning.”

Undoubtedly, Motion Theory owes its success to the “what if?” factor. If we could all actively challenge the myriad messages that form part of our daily life with a “what if?” attitude, we could perhaps aspire to the degree of creative energy that Motion Theory eptomises and with which it has helped take the art of motion graphics to new heights.

After a month

I've been working on my project since the last time that I came to this blog. It's all right at the moment and i wish it ll be good at the end. What i have done in the last almost 30 days was thinking and learning. At first i have no idea about the program that i will use for this project but from now on it's look all right for me. I use the method of learn by using which is i think very well method. I also spent the time watching motion graphic stuff as much as i can find and focus on the editing in term of the story's movement. However, i've made the production shedule which i try to run through it as much as i can but not i missed my shedule already hahaha because this week i suppost to work on character in my film but i havent done it yet anyway like the password the we've been using to get in our computer in Aim studio requires "hope" will be the word that i wish it will be.

After the story board pitch

From Monday, i did present my story board to the group. Everything was going from what i thought. I know it before about some scene will make the audience a bit confuse or don't get the idea that i try to communicate. Since then until yesterday I've done the sequence of the objects of my film that which one will role on the screen in order. This process took me a bit long time to think about the transition, timing, imgaes and also sound. To me I'm pretty sure that this process quite helpful when I animate my film in animatic task which is due on 18th Monday August.

My decision

I've decided to do the linear piece of work rather than interactive piece. The only one reason why because I'd love to see on the screen. I pretty sure that if I do the experimental typography in interactive medium, I might get the feed back from the user experience directly than telling the linear piece of work to the audience because the user can play and touch it. Anyway, my passion and my style is like what I'm gone to do, I like to watch linear piece of work along with the good music then why not!!!!

Project: Thaipography

This motion graphic piece will present the story Thai men role before they will have their own life. The story will reflect the difference of Thai men from the other country by culture perspective. In term of story will present the important role of Thai men such get high education, work in government service, become a solider and become a priest or monk in this life before their married. The story will proceed by Thai typography, means this project will not cover all of 44 characters but it will use the character that has been using nowadays and often in term of Thai language for communication. Therefore, the character will transform from the alphabet form and meaning to the simple geometry graphic form. Moreover, the image will be use by collage animation technic and also plus the organic graphic form. Furthermore, sound track and sound effect will be use along the project. Sound track will combine the significant of Thai modern society such transportation sound and mix with the sound effect which will depend on the play of each scene.

The objective of this interactive piece tries to experimental the use of Thai typography in the multimedia play thing’s world. In each page of Thai typographic will present the image, sound of the alphabet and also the animation by collage technic which refer to the meaning alphabet. Moreover this interactive piece will show the user experience in term of reading English by use Thai typography which is can be related in term of shape and form.

What is Thaipography ?

The Thai alphabet is used to write the Thai language and other minority languages in Thailand. It has forty-four consonants , twenty-eight vowel forms and four tone marks The consonants are written horizontally from left to right, while the vowels are arranged above, below, to the left or to the right of the corresponding consonant.

Unlike the Roman alphabet, the Thai alphabet does not distinguish minuscule and majuscule letters. It is usually written with no space between words, which is facilitated by the fact that most Thai words have only one syllable. The end of sentences is marked by a space.

There is a set of Thai numerals but the so-called Arabic numerals are also commonly
used.
